Iconic Bands Announced for Riot Fest’s 20th Anniversary
Chicago’s Riot Fest unveiled a star-studded lineup for its 20th anniversary, scheduled to occur from September 19-21, 2025, at Douglass Park. Headlining the festival across the three days are prominent bands including Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer, and Jack White. The festival will also see legendary punk group The Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter, replacing the group’s original frontman Johnny “Rotten” Lydon, who reportedly expressed disappointment about being left out.
The popular annual festival, renowned for highlighting punk, alternative, and indie music, will showcase an extensive lineup of over 90 acts. Alongside the headliners, attendees can look forward to performances by The Beach Boys, Rilo Kiley, Weird Al Yankovic, Idles, Alkaline Trio, All Time Low, and many more. Riot Fest Secures Long-Term Douglass Park Commitment
This year’s announcement also comes with important news regarding the festival’s long-term arrangement with Chicago’s park authorities. Riot Fest organizers recently finalized a multi-year agreement with the Chicago Park District, officially confirming the event’s continuation in Douglass Park at least through 2027, with options available to extend until 2029. Beginning this year, Riot Fest will increase its contribution of event revenue designated for improvements to Douglass Park from an earlier 10% up to 30%. With daily capacity maintained at 50,000 attendees, the financial contributions resulting from this partnership are projected to provide between $3 million and $4.5 million to the Chicago Park District by 2029.
